Dr. Stephen Cox is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon, specializing in treating the foot and ankle. He completed fellowship training at the Florida Orthopedic Institute in Tampa, Florida, after completing his medical studies, internship (General Surgery), and residency (Orthopedic Surgery) at the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. His undergraduate studies were completed at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, after graduating from Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport. Dr. Cox is licensed to practice in Louisiana and Florida. He is a member of the Shreveport Medical Society and Louisiana Orthopedic Association. Dr. Cox has participated in a number of medical conferences, including the AO North American Trauma Conference, Orthotics and Prosthetics, Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital, Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, and Orthopedic Pathology. Additionally, he has been involved in the research of the evaluation of piezoelectric properties of pineal brain sand, and bioabsorbable syndesmotic screw fixation. Dr. Cox has made medical presentations about the evaluation and treatment of lower extremity problems in Shreveport; and biomechanical comparison of stainless steel and bioabsorbable screw fixation of syndesmotic injuries in New Orleans.
